AI Designer · Creative Director

I design, build, and ship AI-native products.

Twelve-plus years of creative direction in entertainment media, now focused at the intersection of design and artificial intelligence. I’ve shipped 20+ AI-powered iOS apps through my company Pearlcity LLC, designed and built an entertainment company’s website end to end, and illustrated two published book series. Designer who builds — not just specs.

01 — Product Design

Designing AI products people can actually trust.

I run the full arc — problem framing, information architecture, interaction design, and shipped execution. My App Factory has put 20+ native AI apps on the App Store. Here is one, in depth.

CareMynd

A caregiving organizer for the people managing aging parents.

The Challenge

The “sandwich generation” — adult children managing an aging parent’s medications, appointments, observations, and home safety — runs that work out of memory, group texts, and scraps of paper. The opportunity was a single organized place for it. The hard part was the constraint.

CareMynd is an organizational tool, not a medical one. It does not diagnose, treat, or recommend medical interventions — and it can never imply that it does. Every structural and interaction decision had to reinforce that line while still being genuinely useful. That tension was the design brief.

Strategic Structure

Caregivers act in the moment, one-handed, often standing in a kitchen or a waiting room. I structured the app around four clear jobs rather than a feature list: Today (what needs attention now), Care (the parent’s profile, medications, and observation journal), Visits (preparing for and recording doctor appointments), and Home (home-safety readiness). On iPad the same model expands into a split-view sidebar — a deliberate size-class branch rather than forcing one navigation pattern across both.

Designing the Trust Boundary

Because the app is medical-adjacent, “trust” couldn’t be a tone — it had to be built into the flow. The decisions that did the work:

Consent as a step, not a setting
A mandatory AI-consent screen sits between onboarding and the app — what data is sent, who receives it, what it’s for. Decline, and the organizer still works without AI.
Outputs that prepare, not prescribe
AI generates a Visit Prep Sheet and a Home Readiness Checklist. Both are framed as preparation for a real provider conversation — specific questions to ask, never answers or diagnoses.
Flag, don’t interpret
An unusual reading becomes the headline observation routed to “questions for the doctor’” — surfaced for a professional, never interpreted by the app.
A free tier that fits real behavior
Caregivers generate AI artifacts around events — a visit, an initial setup — not monthly. I moved this app to a rolling 365-day allowance, a deliberate break from the rest of my portfolio’s monthly model.

Outcome

CareMynd shipped and is live on the App Store — through Apple’s review for one of the more scrutinized categories, an AI tool in a medical-adjacent space. It stands as proof of the harder skill: not making an AI feature flashy, but making it responsible, legible, and genuinely in the user’s control.

Walkthrough — Screen by Screen

The shipped product, in narrative order — from framing who the app is for, through the organizer itself, to the two AI artifacts a caregiver carries into a real appointment.

CareMynd — built for the sandwich generation
CareMynd — tailored to the parent's conditions and home
CareMynd — manage both parents
CareMynd — medications, notes, and appointments
CareMynd — AI doctor-appointment prep sheets
CareMynd — hand the doctor a clear summary
CareMynd — home safety tailored to the parent's needs
CareMynd — critical, recommended, and DIY fixes
App Store screenshots — designed and produced in-house.
The App Factory

20+ shipped AI iOS apps — one solo designer-builder.

CareMynd is one app in a portfolio of 20+ native iOS apps I’ve designed, built, and shipped through Pearlcity LLC — each one taking AI from concept to App Store: product definition, interface, on-device data, AI integration, and review-ready polish. A repeatable practice for turning AI capability into shipped, usable product.

04 — About

Designer, builder, world-builder.

I’m a designer and illustrator who builds AI software. Twelve-plus years leading creative direction at an entertainment media company gave me the craft side — visual language, narrative, art direction. Founding Pearlcity LLC gave me the product side — taking ideas all the way to shipped, reviewed, public software.

My path has never been conventional: Navy veteran, licensed Florida contractor, and self-taught storyteller before I ever shipped an app. The throughline is the same in every chapter — build something worth building, and ship it. Today that means designing AI-native products that are responsible, legible, and genuinely useful.

I work remotely and I work end to end — equally comfortable framing a problem, directing the visuals, and writing the code that ships it.
